La Candelaria

Took advantage of a beautiful Saturday in Bogota and spent the day in the La Candelaria neighborhood which is the original center of town in Bogota. Great area with cobblestone streets, wonderful architecture and museums.

This is the Plaza de Bolivar, Bolivar Square, the heart of the old town area.

A lot of colorful buildings all around the neighborhood.
One of the oldest churches in Bogota and most ornate.

Oldest street in Bogota, called 'Funnel Alley' or Callejon del Embudo. Down the street there are local artisan shops, restaurants and a couple very tiny bars.
At the end of Funnel Alley we heard Led Zeppelin blaring from one of the bars. So we thought it was only appropriate to stop and have a beer and chat with some of the locals.
