Museums, Hofburg & Rathaus

The History of Art and Natural History Museum in Vienna are almost mirror images of each other. More than 1.5 million people visit the museums every year.
The Hofburg Palace has housed some of the most powerful people in Austrian history, including the Habsburg dynasty. It currently serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. Now you ask, who were the Habsburgs? They were Europe's most powerful royal family and the ruling family of Spanish and Austrian lands. They supplied the continent with a nearly uninterrupted stream of rulers for more than 600 years!

Hofburg Theatre

The Volkstheater (called People's Theatre)

Across the street from the Volkstheater is the Volksgarten which is a public park and it is famous for its rose gardens.
Another public park is the Burggarten and there is a Mozart Memorial.
The Rathaus is Vienna's town hall and my favorite building in the city. Currently there is a film festival going on in front of the building that lasts a month. This is also where the International Film Festival (Oct.) and the Christmas market will take place.
